TOO LATE: Arsenal Register Late Interest In PSG Star Man, Deal Not Possible

Published

on

Leandro Paredes of Paris Saint-Germain has apparently drawn interest from Arsenal, but the midfielder is eager to complete a transfer to Juventus. Following Mohammed Elneny’s injury and Thomas Partey’s absence, Arsenal and Arteta are currently in a significant bind. Lucas Torreira, a little midfielder, left earlier this summer without being replaced, forcing the Spanish manager to scour the market for a replacement.

The Gunners allegedly spoke with AC Milan earlier this month over star midfielder Sandro Tonali, and it appears the North London club has inquired about another player who is moving to Italy.

Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo and long-term target Youri Tielemans were top of the list for long but none of those links have materialized to anything concrete yet. With just few hours to the close of the transfer window and coupled with Elneny’s recent injury, Arsenal might be forced to get an emergency option.

THE LATEST: PAREDES INQUIRY

Romeo Agresti claims that Arsenal has seriously inquired about PSG’s Leandro Paredes. However, the player is close to finalizing a transfer to Juventus before the transfer window closes.

Di Marzio also states that Paredes wants to honor his initial contract with Juventus and that Arsenal has contacted him about a possible transfer. Despite Paredes’ wishes, Marco Guidi asserts that PSG would like to send the player to Arsenal.

Paredes, meanwhile, had already reached a contract agreement with the Serie A team and is scheduled to undergo a physical on Wednesday.

THE VERDICT: OUT OF REACH

At this point in the season, when there is a mini-injury problem, Paredes would have been a nice addition to the team. However, the player is presently focused on a transfer to Juventus, making it impossible for Arsenal to pursue him.

Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Elneny, and other possibilities for the Gunners in midfield are all injured, so it is obvious that they won’t be enough to carry Arsenal through the season. It is very vital to add another midfielder before the transfer window closes, although it is unclear if the club would choose to do so.
