Nketiah and Trossard to start, Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) against Manchester City
Arsenal switch their attention to the FA Cup on Friday as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City, so let’s take a look at the predicted lineup.
The Gunners secured a hugely important win over Manchester United over the weekend that puts them five points clear at the top of the Premier League. But this will be a different kind of challenge against Pep Guardiola and his galaxy of stars.
Matt Turner will be replacing Aaron Ramsdale in goal as the American is likely to get a chance to showcase his skills. As for the full backs, the two that are most likely going to play are Takehiro Tomiyasu on the right and Kieran Tierney on the left.
Perhaps this game is a little too soon for new signing Jakub Kiwior so that could see Gabriel retain his place as one of the centre backs. The other is likely to be Rob Holding which would result in some rest for William Saliba.
In midfield, Thomas Partey should be given a rest and that will see Albert Sambi Lokonga make an appearance. To support him, Arteta might include Granit Xhaka as the Swiss international can use his experience to help the Belgian youngster.
Further up, while it would seem that Bukayo Saka would be rested, he is likely to play given the strength of the opposition. Fabio Vieira will play in the middle of the attacking three and his passing ability will be needed to get the win. On the left wing, it should be a first start for new arrival Leandro Trossard.
Eddie Nketiah will continue as the leader of the attack and would look to extend his great form. If the rest of the team can put him in good positions, the forward is more than likely to find the back of the net.
Arsenal’s main focus is the Premier League but they would like to do well in a competition where they are the record-holders in terms of cups won. And a win on Friday would send a message to the main competition in the league.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup Against Manchester City (4-2-3-1):
Matt Turner, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Rob Holding, Gabriel, Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka, Fabio Vieira, Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah
