Man City eye shock Gunners transfer as Arteta gets William Saliba injury update

Manchester City could reportedly make a shock move for Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney. That is according to Football Transfers, who claim City are keeping a close eye on his situation as they prepare to make a move for a left back this summer.
Tierney has found game time much harder to come by this season than in years gone by following the addition of Oleksandr Zinchenko from City last year, though it remains to be seen whether the Gunners would be prepared to sell to such a close title rival. City are likely to be in the market for a new full back at the end of the season with Joao Cancelo expected to depart permanently.
Saliba update
William Saliba is unlikely to make Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Southampton due to injury, football.london understands.
The French international has been sidelined for nearly a month after being forced off during the Gunners’ Europa League defeat to Sporting CP with a back injury. It is understood that this was an aggravation of a problem he picked up in the 3-0 victory over Fulham four days prior.
Arsenal were given a minor boost after Saliba was pictured on a training bicycle with fellow long-term absentee Mohamed Elneny on Tuesday. Despite that though, he remains unlikely to make Friday’s clash with Southampton, although the Gunners are thought to be assessing the issue on a daily basis.
Nelson race
West Ham United are reportedly favourites to land Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson this summer if he fails to agree a new deal at the Emirates.
That is according to the Daily Mirror, who claim the Hammers are of the belief Nelson will make the switch across London if he makes an Arsenal exit at the end of the season. Nelson is currently in talks over signing a new deal at the Gunners and while his preference is to stay at the club, an agreement is yet to be reached.
It is said his situation has put a number of clubs on ‘alert’ ahead of the summer, with West Ham, Brighton, Atalanta, Roma and several Bundesliga clubs keeping tabs on him. Nelson, though, is reportedly keen to stay in the capital even if he departs Arsenal, which has placed West Ham at the front of the queue.
