Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko, Smith Rowe – Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Leeds clash

Arsenal registered a huge victory over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday to continue their 100% win record in the Europa League group stages. They don’t have too long to relish in earning all three points in Norway though as they return to Premier League action on Sunday.

They travel to Yorkshire to face off against Leeds United, hoping to carry on setting the pace in the division with yet another victory. Jesse Marsch’s side sit 14th in the table, registering just two wins from their opening eight games after a huge summer rebuild and the loss of some key players.

While the Gunners go in search of another key three points, Mikel Arteta has some injury concerns to battle with for the clash. With that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of the trip to Leeds.

Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus was an injury concern during the Liverpool game as he took a couple of big hits towards the end of the match. The main worry came as Kostas Tsimikas caught the Brazilian with a flailing arm, sending him to the ground quickly, though he carried on for a short while before being brought off.

It was confirmed by Arteta that Jesus would not travel with the squad to Norway for the Thursday night clash, though football.london understands he was rested. When asked about his situation, the manager was coy as he explained the striker’s absence.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Zinchenko suffered a knock to his knee in late August before briefly returning to action against Manchester United. He then picked up a calf injury in Arsenal training and has struggled to stay match fit since. The Ukraine international, again, returned to action in the North London Derby but missed the clash with Liverpool after his calf caused him a few issues.

Arteta said the club are monitoring him and will be looking to not give him too much too soon with regard to physical workload.

What Arteta has said: “He [Zinchenko] had another muscle injury, and let’s see how it evolves in the next few days.”

Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has struggled to get his season underway so far, suffering with injury from pre-season before making his return from the bench against Manchester United. That didn’t last too long, though, with the winger struggling with another knock in the warm-down.

The England international has since undergone surgery which is set to keep him on the sidelines for an extended period, with no return date set as of this moment – though he looks set to miss out on a shot at the World Cup with England.

Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny is suffering from a hamstring injury which he picked up against Fulham last month. It’s likely to keep him out until roughly the new year, with Arteta describing the injury as “long term”.

With a busy fixture schedule ahead, the Gunners will be keen to have the Egypt international involved once again, though there is no return date currently set for the midfielder.
