DEAL DONE: Highly Rated Midfielder Signs New Deal, Huge Blow For The Gunners

Douglas Luiz has signed a new long-term contract with Aston Villa just months after he nearly moved to Arsenal to send the message that a move to the Emirates Stadium will never happen again.
Recall that Arsenal made a move for the Aston Villa midfielder on the transfer deadline day with a couple of offers rejected. It was assumed that a move will happen again in the January winter transfer window but the midfielder has signed a long-term deal with his owners.
Speaking after signing a new deal on Friday, to remain in the West Midlands until 2026, he told Villa TV: ‘I’m so happy. Yesterday I say I’m so happy in this club.
‘I love the people here, the staff, the players, I’m so comfortable here and I’m so happy.
‘[I signed my new deal] because I love this club, this club opened the door for me to come here to England and play in the Premier League.
‘The club has given me the space and I’m so happy, because I’m staying here and my choice is here.’
Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to mount a title challenge this season as they are currently top on the log with four points but that won’t happen if they do not make signings to add depth in the January winter transfer window.
