It’s finally here, and given the press Arsenal technical director Edu generated at the start of the transfer season discussing the preparations, it may come as a surprise that the team still has work to do. In addition, there are requirements for more than one post.
It’s difficult for Arsenal to deal with the early injuries to Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, and Oleksandr Zinchenko after only four games. There are hopes that the team is attempting to address these problems and add the “firepower” Mikel Arteta mentioned requiring during the victory over Bournemouth.
However, there are three players that stand out and may sign with the team in the coming hours. Midfield and winger have been the primary focus since the last arrival back in July, and unsurprisingly these are where the club has been scouring for talent.
The Brazilian midfielder Danilo looks to be the most likely candidate. The 21-year-old midfielder has been a longtime target for Arsenal, who has been connected with him for the better part of 18 months. However, Elneny’s injury appears to have sped up any future intentions to make a deal for the player.
Arsenal are attempting to come to an agreement, according to Sami Mokbel of Mail Sport. However, Palmeiras, who reached the semi-finals without having a chance to find a successor, have little intention of letting the promising talent depart with their Copa Libertadores dreams.
There have been rumors that Arsenal would eventually go for Youri Tielemans if Danilo proves to be too challenging. A deal for the Belgian has been talked about for the duration of the summer, however, the Gunners are still yet to advance a move for the 25-year-old despite their interest persisting gunners247.com understands.
Leicester’s willingness to sell has always been there, but it is fair to say that had Mikel Arteta and company been as sure on Tielemans’ quality as they were on the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, then surely an official offer would have been made far sooner.
The wide player is the last position to be addressed, and despite Pedro Neto and Yeremy Pino being mentioned, Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk seems to be the most likely contender. According to The Athletic, the Ukrainian has apparently been a club goal since a deal for Neto proved unfeasible financially.
With so little time left, Brentford seems to be the only Premier League contender with a chance to get Mudryk. The broader position has been placed on hold due to Arsenal’s midfield’s injury problems. The least probable situation to be resolved by the deadline appears to be this one right now.
This raises concerns about what may occur if Bukayo Saka suffers a major injury. After the loan exit of Nicolas Pepe, the Gunners look light on the right bar, the unproven Marquinhos and the potential versatile option of Fabio Vieira.
