Arteta makes Jesus admission as Pep Guardiola gives Erling Haaland injury update

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that star striker Gabriel Jesus is close to being 100% fit after returning from his knee injury last month.

Speaking about Jesus in his pre-match press conference ahead of Leeds, Arteta said: “He’s very close to that. In the last 10 days he’s made a big step forward.

“You can see he’s looser and not thinking about it. He’s creating that chaos in training. He’s in a really good place now.”

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola delivered an update on Erling Haaland’s ongoing injury ahead of Saturday’s game against Liverpool.

“Erling is recovering”, Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference. “We have the last training session and we will see how we feels.

“We will see this afternoon. The last training at 4 o’clock, we will see how he feels. The former Bayern Munich head coach added: “We will see today and the doctors and players will decide. “I spoke with him yesterday and he feels good.”

Arsenal are unlikely to pursue a deal for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham this summer, according to The Telegraph.

 

It is claimed that the Gunners admire the England international, although the package that it will take to prise him away from Dortmund will be too much for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The report goes on to claim that the talented midfielder will likely command a fee in excess of £100 million, as well as a hefty wage package, making any deal extremely unlikely for the north London outfit.
