ARSENAL TRANSFER RUMOR: Arsenal need ‘big offer’ to sign £89m winger at the Emirates

Arsenal transfer target Ansu Fati could be available for a fee worth around £89m at the Emirates Stadium this summer, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has suggested to GiveMeSport.
Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his attacking ranks with the signing of the Barcelona talent heading into next season.
Jacobs exclusively revealed (via CaughtOffside) that Arsenal are joined by both Liverpool and Manchester United in their interest in signing Fati this summer and the trio have all made contact on the player’s side, regarding this possibility.
The same reporter says that there have been no direct talks with Barcelona over his potential signature, but a club-record sale could tempt the Catalan giants into parting ways with the winger, amid their current financial woes.
Transfer insider Dean Jones has recently suggested to GiveMeSport that a move to Arsenal for Fati is unlikely with the player seeming determined to make his mark at the Nou Camp.
However, Jacobs has suggested that if a Premier League club could offer an over-inflated transfer offer of around £89m for the 20-year-old’s services, then the La Liga club may be tempted to sanction a sale.
What has Jacobs said about Arsenal and Fati?
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “When Fati was a bit younger as a teenager, it was very much a case of him being consistently mentioned in the same breath as Messi.
“What we’re seeing now is potential dynamism, the ability to be creative and score the odd goal, but we’re not seeing a player that is playing as regularly or scoring as regularly as he would have liked.
“That may well provide an opportunity at the right price to a suitor. What Xavi and Joan Laporta say, which is that he’s very clearly not for sale, versus the financial needs of the football club are two completely different things.
“That’s where a Premier League suitor could persuade Barcelona to sell for an offer that they deem to be simply too good to turn down.
“That offer will be big, it may be as high as €100m [£89m], which even Barcelona fans, I think, will accept is too high based on Fati’s form and market value.”
Would Fati be a good signing for Arsenal?
At the age of just 20, it seems that Fati has an extremely high ceiling to hit his potential, but he will feel that he needs to hit a consistent patch of form sooner rather than later to fulfil what his undoubted talent promises.
The £199,000-per-week earner has played in just 41% of available minutes in La Liga this season, scoring three goals and providing the same amount of assists in 20 appearances throughout the campaign.
The seven-cap Spain international’s struggles to make an impact at the Nou Camp are further emphasised by his average WhoScored rating of 6.52 for his displays in the Spanish top flight, ranking him as the La Liga outfit’s 20th-best-performing-player since the season began in August.
Therefore, it seems that a bid in the £89m region mark would be difficult for Barcelona to turn down this summer, but whether Arsenal are prepared to gamble that money away on somebody who hasn’t exactly performed to the highest level this campaign is another question.
