ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal started negotiations with 22-year-old Spain international

Eric Garcia is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The London giants want to sign the Barcelona centre-back in the summer transfer window. And Spain international might be available for only €15m. The 22-year-old defender was one of the most talented young centre-backs in the PL when he left Man City.
The Spanish centre-back returned to Spotify Camp Nou in a Bosman move in July 2021, four years after ditching La Masia for the City academy. But the Spaniard has failed to make his mark thus far at Barcelona. The former Man City defender featured fairly regularly in the 2021/22 campaign but has fallen down the pecking order this term.
Eric has started just ten matches thus far this campaign, with Kounde and Araujo ahead of him. Even Christensen is higher in Xavi’s preference. So Garcia might leave the Catalan club in the summer. And the situation has alerted the Gunners. The London giants will likely enter the market for a defender in the summer transfer window.
While Saliba has become the first-choice centre-back for the Spanish manager, Mikel Arteta wants another option in his squad. Arsenal ideally want to bring in a left-footed defender, with Evan Ndicka on their radar. But Mikel Arteta might be open to signing Eric Garcia from Barcelona.
Eric Garcia will not cost a bomb either, with Barcelona likely to demand nearly €15m. While the Gunners’ financial issues have disappeared, they will unlikely turn down a possible bargain.
