Arsenal Round-Up: Leading race for Danish playmaker, Battle for Ukrainian forward, Croatian attacker on the radar

Arsenal have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Jesper Lindstrom as their main target to strengthen their midfield in the next winter transfer window. The London giants have approached the representatives of the 22-year-old playmaker in a bid to bring him to Arsenal during the winter transfer window.

Despite the fact that it is not even a month after the closure of a frenetic summer transfer window, teams across the continent are already scouring for top talents and possible options to improve their squad when the winter window rolls around.

This looks to be the case for the current PL leaders, Arsenal. Pepe left to join Nice on loan in the summer after failing to make an impression at Arsenal, but the London giants failed to secure a replacement despite being linked to a host of forward last summer.

Now the Gunners are said to be looking to capture Denmark international when the transfer window reopens next year, and have already initiated deal over a potential move midway through the campaign. Lindstrom just arrived in Bundesliga in the summer of 2021 for a fee of nearly €7m from Brondby.

Despite his form fluctuating at the start of his tenure, the Danish centre-forward enjoyed a decent debut season at Deutsche Bank Park, winning the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award after scoring five goals and registering as many assists in 29 league games.

Arsenal in pole position to sign No.10 Ukraine international

Arsenal are keen on signing Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, and the London club have been asked to pay in excess of €50m. Ukraine international has made quite a name for himself with his displays domestically and in European tournaments.

Mykhaylo has two goals and three assists from five games across all tournaments, and his displays have caught the Spanish manager’s eye. It is no secret that the Gunners need to add more depth to their squad, and Mudryk looks like a quality long-term option for them.

However, the Ukrainian plays a role similar to that of Martinelli, and it will be interesting to see what happens to the Brazilian winger if Arsenal decide to spend over €50m on the attacker during the winter transfer window.

Gabriel has done well for the Gunners so far this campaign, and he will be hoping to start regularly for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old winger is likely to demand assurances of regular football as well before opting to join Arsenal. It stays to be seen how Mikel Arteta handles the situation should the teams manage to agree on a fee first.

The Ukrainian winger is versatile enough to operate as a playmaker as well as a right-sided forward. His versatility will be an added bonus for the Gunners if they manage to sign him. Mykhaylo Mudryk has the potential to reach the very top and the Gunners could provide him with the platform he needs right now.

Some of the most prominent European teams are keen on signing Lovro Majer. Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are among the clubs showing interest in the Stade Rennais playmaker, with the footballer quickly becoming a hot property in the market.

Croatia international was a journeyman during his formative years, representing half a dozen teams in his youth career before graduating from the Lokomotiva Zagreb academy. Majer went from strength to strength during his three-year stint with Dinamo Zagreb before taking his career to the next level at Stade Rennais.

Lovro has taken no time to establish himself as one of the best attackers in Ligue 1. And after an impressive 2021/22 season, Majer has begun the new campaign strongly, chipping in with a goal and two assists in eight games. Lovro’s displays have not gone unnoticed either, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Arsenal among his prospective suitors.

As for Arsenal, the London club signed Fabio Vieira in the summer transfer window as a possible long-term solution in midfield. And with Odegaard now the Gunners captain, it is unclear how the Croatian playmaker might fit in the Spanish manager’s setup.

But the Gunners might still pursue the 24-year-old playmaker over a potential move soon. The Croatian will be one of the most highly sought-after footballers in the market in the coming transfer windows, and it will be interesting to see where his career takes him next.
