Arsenal news: PSG attempt shock Mikel Arteta move as Martin Odegaard hints at new contract

PSG keen on Arteta
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly attempted to convince Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to become their new head coach after failing to finalise a deal for Julian Nagelsmann.
According to RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 champions have resorted to considering a move for the Gunners chief after months of speculation linking them with numerous coaches. PSG are said to be looking to replace Christophe Galtier following a single season in charge.
Fortunately for Arsenal supporters, Campos is described as being ‘pessimistic’ about his chances of convincing Arteta to move.
Odegaard contract stance
Arsenal club captain Martin Odegaard has outlined his hope to stay with the Gunners for a “long time”, but has claimed talks over a new contract will likely begin after the summer.
Speaking to TV2, he said: “I’m very happy at Arsenal and I hope to stay here for long time. Let’s see on contract situation after the summer. I didn’t speak to Arsenal, it’s not on me honestly; no rush, my contract is still long.”
Saka injury scare
England manager Gareth Southgate has played down any fears that Bukayo Saka had sustained an injury after he was taken off in the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 qualifying win over Malta.
The Arsenal forward appeared in discomfort following a tough challenge from a Malta defender and was eventually replaced by Manchester City star Phil Foden at half-time.
After the game, Southgate insisted the decision to withdraw the Emirates Stadium hero was a precaution. “He’s good,” Southgate said after he was quizzed on the Gunners star. “He’s good. We just didn’t want to take a chance with him given the scoreline.”
