Ideal Saliba partner eyed

According to Il Romanista, via The Express, AS Roma are monitoring Evan Ndicka’s situation but face tough competition from the Premier League and, more specifically, Arsenal.

With his contract expiring in 2023, reports in Germany claimed that the Bundesliga outfit were ready to offload him in the summer to avoid losing him for free. However, he stayed put and could now be available for an even cheaper fee in January or on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Gabriel Jesus was rested on Wednesday morning and missed Arsenal training as a result, football.london understands.

The striker looked to be in some discomfort during the Gunners’ 3-2 home win over Liverpool on Sunday after Kostas Tsimikas caught the Brazilian with a flailing arm in the second half. Though he continued for a while after, he was eventually brought off.

Arsenal fans feared that there may be further issues when news emerged that he was absent from training, but football.london have since learned that he was simply being rested and there are no further injury concerns. Whether that means he will continue to be rested for Arsenal’s game against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday is unknown, but he is expected to be back in training ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate may have to consider alternate right-back options after Reece James became the latest player to suffer an injury blow.

The Chelsea star was forced off midway through the second half of the Blues’ 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The extent of the issue is currently unknown, with Chelsea boss Graham Potter claiming it’s too early to make a judgement on the issue: “Reece, we’re hoping he’ll be ok. [We’ll need] 24-48 hours because it’s too early to tell you anything more than that.”
