Arsenal news: Gareth Southgate told he made right Ben White decision amid Trossard’s title claim

White decision
Former England right-back Danny Mills has backed up Gareth Southgate’s decision to leave out the likes of Arsenal defender Ben White from his recent Three Lions’ squad.
Speaking to the Mirror, Mills said: “Ben White is an interesting one. He’s playing a little bit out of position at right back, I understand that, again is not 100% guaranteed to be in that Arsenal team.
“There’s also the issue that he left the World Cup early. No one’s mentioned it. Why?
“We’ve had no answer or no reason why he left the World Cup early. There’s been nothing confirmed as to why he left the England camp, so you have to put that down as well to either he left – and he didn’t come out and say for himself it was personal reasons, he just left – so, I’m going to put two and two together and presume there’s a slight issue in there.
“What that is, I don’t know, but I’m not going mad by thinking clearly there’s some sort of issue. So that might be one of the reasons he’s not in and around it, but also there are better options.”
When asked by HYPERBEAST about his most difficult matchups, the Dutch international said: “[Roberto] Firmino was always a tough one because he could do everything – cuts in, drops deep, very good with the ball. Lately, as I’ve been playing at left back, players like Saka and [Mohamed] Salah are very difficult as well.”
Trossard on title race
Leandro Trossard also spoke about the prospect of the Gunners winning their first Premier League title in 19 years but remained coy when speaking about their chances of holding off second-placed Manchester City.
Speaking about the title race, he said: “We all know how difficult it is to win the league, looking at Man City and Liverpool in recent years, but I think we have a great squad and that we have proven time and time again that we’re doing well.
“There are 10 matches left, we’ll see where we end once the season finishes.”
