Arsenal news: Erling Haaland suffers injury blow as Leandro Trossard absent from Belgium session

Arsenal have been handed a huge Premier League title race boost after Manchester City star Erling Haaland has withdrawn from Norway’s squad with a groin injury. The 22-year-old striker has scored a whopping 42 goals in just 37 appearances in all competitions this season for Pep Guardiola’s side.
City signed the Norwegian superstar from Borussia Dortmund in a £51million deal last summer and he has had an instant impact at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland is currently leading the golden boot race with 28 goals in just 26 games for the reigning Premier League champions.
Arsenal find themselves heading into the international break with an eight point advantage over City, despite Guardiola’s side having a game in hand on the Gunners. Whilst Haaland dominates the goal scoring for City, Arsenal’s attackers have shared the goals this season with Gabriel Martinelli (13), Bukayo Saka (12) and Martin Odegaard (10) all tallying double figures.
Arsenal have their own ‘Lionel Messi’ to help Mikel Arteta repeat Arsene Wenger success
Arsenal have their own ‘Lionel Messi’ to help Mikel Arteta follow in Arsene Wenger’s footsteps and lift the Premier League trophy. The Gunners hold an eight-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table heading into the international break with just 10 games left to play.
City have been dealt a major injury blow this week as Erling Haaland had to be withdrawn from Norway’s squad to face Spain and Georgia. The 22-year-old has scored 42 goals for Pep Guardiola’s side in all competitions but could now be set for a period of time on the sidelines after sustaining a groin injury.
Arsenal stars Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka are among those in Arteta’s squad that have been selected for international duty. The Hale End graduate joined the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Randal Kolo Muani in being the only players to register 10+ goals and 10+ assists this season.
Why Leandro Trossard and De Bruyne missed Belgium training amid Arsenal’s Erling Haaland boost
Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has been called up to the Belgium national team for the international break, along with Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. Belgium had their first training session on Monday, but there were several notable players were missing.
Gunners captain Martin Odegaard has been compared to De Bruyne this season with Jamie Redknapp claiming the Norwegian midfielder has now surpassed the 31-year-old as the Premier League’s best midfielder. The north Londoners find themselves eight points clear at the top of the table heading into the international break after beating Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Trossard has registered seven goal contributions since his arrival at Arsenal with Paul Merson suggesting the Belgian forward would walk straight into Pep Guardiola’s side on current form. The north Londoners have been handed a huge boost in their race for the Premier League title after Erling Haaland was withdrawn from Norway’s squad to face Spain and Georgia after suffering a groin injury – though it is not yet clear how long he will be absent for.
