Arsenal handed injury update on £115k-a-week star at the Emirates

Arsenal have received an injury update on Martin Odegaard, and there is a “good sign’ regarding his fitness, according to journalist Ben Dinnery. The Gunners midfielder has featured 13 times in the Premier League season, emerging as a key player for Mikel Arteta, in the table-topping start to the campaign instigated at the Emirates Stadium.
What is the latest news involving Odegaard?
While competing for national side Norway, ABC Nyheter report that Odegaard took a hit to his ankle during a clash with neighbouring country Finland, and he was later seen limping onto the team bus, having not appeared for a post-match interview.
It is stated that the playmaker was one of the last to leave the stadium, in what will come as worrying news for Arsenal fans.
The 23-year-old has played twice for his country since the club season was paused for the Qatar World Cup, also featuring in an away friendly against Ireland, scooping up an assist for the first goal in a 2-1 win.
The Gunners are not due to take part in a competitive game until a Boxing Day clash against West Ham United, but it remains to be seen whether the Norwegian will be fit enough to take part in the scheduled friendlies against Lyon and AC Milan.
What has Dinnery said about Odegaard?
Dinnery is hopeful that the potential injury is not too great a concern for Arteta, due to the fact that it came about as a result of impact, telling GIVEMESPORT: “There’s nothing at this point to suggest that it’s anything too serious, the fact that it was more impact than a knock is a good sign.
“I haven’t got any concerns at this point that his availability is in any way shape or form under threat for when the Premier League fixtures resume.“
How important is Odegaard to Arsenal?
Odegaard’s quality was illustrated best in the last match before the international break, netting a brace in the 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers to fire his team to victory, receiving a SofaScore rating of 8.5, the highest of any player on the pitch.
Praised for his “tremendous quality” by Arteta, the maestro has now amassed six goals in 13 Premier League appearances, just one behind the tally that he managed across the whole of last season, highlighting the improvement he has made to his game.
Not only that, but the Arsenal skipper must also be praised for the leadership abilities that he has displayed since being named captain in the summer, as it is no coincidence that an impressive start has been made while he has the armband.
His manager has praised him for being a “great role model”, and for his “humble” nature, so the Spaniard will be hoping that the knock is not too serious, and that the £115k-a-week earner will be available upon the season’s resumption.
