Arsenal could enter ‘very strong position’ to sign £180m duo at the Emirates

Arsenal will be in a “very strong position” to sign both Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo this summer if they win the Premier League title, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport.

The Gunners have the West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielders on their radar, and Jacobs is not ruling out Mikel Arteta landing the pair.

According to The Times, Arsenal have made Rice their top summer target and could acquire him for £80m.

Caicedo, who the north London club were chasing last month, may cost slightly more. The same outlet claimed that Brighton valued him at £100m at one point during the January transfer window.

The reliable Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal made two bids for the 21-year-old when the market was open, with one being worth £70m, so he is definitely not going to come cheap in the summer.

While Arsenal missed out on Caicedo, Arteta was still able to add to his midfield after bringing in Jorginho from Chelsea.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Arsenal?
Jacobs has hinted that Arsenal could end up signing both Rice and Caicedo if they go on to become Premier League champions.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “There’ll be competition for Rice; there’ll be competition for Caicedo.

“But obviously, if Arsenal did want both, should they become the defending Premier League champions heading into next season and have Champions League football, they’ll be in a very strong position.”

Who should Arsenal prioritise, Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo?

Rice and Caicedo are both excellent midfielders. As per WhoScored, the former is currently making 2.3 tackles per league game, which is the second-highest average in West Ham’s squad. As for the latter, he is making 2.9, which is actually the most among his team-mates.

However, with the England international, Arsenal may just get a little bit more overall. He has played in the Premier League for much longer and has also developed into quite the leader.

“He is an incredibly mature boy and he’s got fantastic leadership qualities,” his national team manager Gareth Southgate was quoted as saying by The Telegraph a couple of years ago.

“I think that’s clear to every coach that works with him. It’s one of the reasons we felt, when there was an opportunity to bring him with us, that we were so keen to do it.”

If Arsenal can lure both Rice and Caicedo to the Emirates this summer, then great. But going into the next transfer window, the West Ham skipper should be their priority.
